There are two kinds of compost bin on the land — the black barrel that feeds the food forest, and the green council bin.

  • Meat, fish, dairy
  • Coffee grounds, tea bags
  • Garden waste, prunings

⛔ No

  • Plastic, glass, metal
  • Paper and cardboard (separately, in the blue bin)

Which one do I pick?

When in doubt: the green bin. Almost anything can go in there. The black barrel is stricter because its contents end up directly in the food forest on the land — and there we don't want pesticide residue, or anything that attracts vermin (like meat or a lot of citrus).
