Archeological treasures at Rokin station

At Rokin metro station, two permanent, climate-controlled displays hold some 9,500 archaeological finds from when this new metro line was built. Set between the escalators at the north and south entrances, these displays offer a free and fascinating glimpse into thousands of years of human settlement around these parts.

The north case covers themes like food, science, arms, communication, games, and personal items; the south case shows items from buildings, interiors, transport, and craft. The objects span millennia — from 17th century tobacco pipes to 21st century hash pipes and a 4,000-year-old knife to early cell phones dropped in a canal.

Bleep your phone or card (as how you would pay in any store) to get through the metro gates - most payment methods should work. When you walk out back of the station, the money reserved for the metro ride will be refunded - making this exhibit completely free. Make sure to stand on the left side of the escalators going up and down.
