In the next few years, the size and impact of Tesla Energy are expected to scale to levels that can become hugely positive for the availability of clean energy on the grid. Tesla Energy will deploy large scale batteries and software to help to store clean energy, stabilize the grid, and smartly monetize energy that was stored cheaply.

During this time, it’s possible that Tesla Energy will grow to a size more valuable than Saudi Aramco, Shell, and Exxon Mobil - and that’s a future I’m very much looking forward to. The main promise of why I invested in Tesla in the first place, was never about fancy cars. To me, the promise of locking the sun’s energy efficiently into metal always seemed like a very elegant solution to me. A smart take on using the fusion reactor that’s above our heads for free every day.

As much of the attention for Tesla has gone to its cars, I feel the reporting on Tesla Energy is lacking. I’ve always been interested in Tesla Energy, because it has the promise to become a standard for electrifying houses, making life cleaner, and being an industry leader no person or company can get around.

That’s why I’m building this overview. It’s an ongoing project that tries to size up Tesla Energy. For my own understanding, and built in public for your enjoyment.
